I am back with my Summer Favourites! If you haven’t checked out my Spring Favourites, or if you loved it and want to read it again, you can do so HERE
Now, summer is almost over, which means Halloween is just around the corner!!! I know, I know, I mentioned it last week as well, but I really love Halloween. It’s my favourite!
Speaking of favourites, let’s just get into summer ones, as it is still summer after all!
The Hazel Woods
By Melissa Albert
Did I already mention that book? I feel like I might have… Well in any case, it’s good enough to talk about again!
The story follows Alice and her mom as they move around to avoid the bad luck that always seems to follow them everywhere. And what does that have to do with Alice’s grandmother and the novel she wrote?
The book is about fairytales, but creepy ones, which are my favourite kind. It’s also wholly original, no re-telling here! Which is great because I’m not a fan of those.
I am waiting for the sequel that’s going to come out later this year!
Do check it out, it’s fantastic!
By Anthony Bourdain
Chef Bourdain was an inspiration for all cooks. A true one. He did his time in diners, and buffets. He knows about kitchens, all types of them.
Few of you guys might know, but originally, before turning to desk work, I was a cook in the Military. I even went to a culinary institute to study Pastry Making. So I can objectively tell you: Anyone who ever worked in a kitchen will love this book.
I mean, even if you didn’t, it’s an autobiographical type book written by a legend who was gone from this world far too soon.
Enjoy his sarcasm, his cynicism, and his descriptions of food that will make you drool!
Check it out, as well as any other written work by Chef Bourdain, and his TV shows, also amazing!
Missha lip tints
In coral and fuchsia, the coral one is matte.
These guys have some serious staying power. The fuchsia one I don’t even need to re-apply during the day. That good. They’re also pretty buildable if you’re looking for a more intense color.
Now this is the regular swatch, and below is after washing my arm 3 times with soap…
The Matte one doesn’t stain quite as much, but as you can see, the fuchsia one is quite intense still. My arm looks like that now. Probably forever.
You can get those on beautynetkorea.net or probably any other korean cosmetics retailer.
Dr. G Brightening Peeling Gel
Listen, I do not know how this thing work, just that it does.
My skin texture and redness improved noticeably since using it.
I also stopped using any kind of physical exfoliator with beads, or any cleansing brush. This peeling gel does the job all by itself while being much softer for my skin.
I got my friend Cheryl to try it as well and she agreed that it makes our skin feel like it’s breathing. Like all of your pores are empty. It’s incredible.
You can get this one on Amazon and you definitely should!
Bath & Body Works 3 wick candles
London (also called sometimes ‘London Calling’)
This smells like tea and lemon. According to my husband, it smells like home. If that’s not the best reason to try it, I don’t know what is!
In all seriousness, it’s my all time favorite candle at Bath & Body Works, and it comes back every year so keep an eye out for it!
Did you ever want your house to smell like a sweet bakery without having to, you know, actually bake stuff?
This candle is for you. It smells exactly like fresh bread, it’s uncanny really.
Not to be lit when hungry, just saying… Not that I made that mistake… I’m just assuming…
Maxim Instant Coffee
I am usually an espresso drinker but these little pouches of Korean instant coffee are so good and so convenient!
I am slowly converting all of my friends to those.
Not only are they sweet and caffeinated but look how practical?
Just shuck a few of these in your purse and you are good to go!
Just add a bit of boiling water for an instant warm beverage!
You can get them in most asian grocery stores.
The lazy way to have bibimbap on the fly!

Just a few side dishes with rice and gochujang and voila! Healthy lunch in under 5 minutes!
I usually scramble an egg to put on top too for extra protein but you do you!
Voila! These are my favourite things from the summer so far, the one thing I wish I found was great sunscreen that won’t break me out. I need at least SPF 50 so if you know of a good one, let me know. I’m still on the hunt.
Have a great end if summer guys!
Until next time,
